in the heart of East Nashville,
operated by Juno Award-winning producer
Steve Dawson

The Studio

Designed and built by Nashville’s Niles Acoustics, The Henhouse is an inspiring space with excellent acoustics, several isolation booths, large windows, and a spacious control room that features an API console. It’s an extremely comfortable and welcoming tracking area that accommodates live groups in many different configurations.

Services

The Henhouse is available to artists looking to work with Steve Dawson as a producer, musician or engineer. The studio is also available for photo/video shoots or for outside producers and engineers to come in and work by the day. Steve is also available to mix projects, record remote overdubs, and teach courses and lessons.

Equipment

With an API 1608 console as the centerpiece, The Henhouse contains a well-curated collection of modern and vintage recording gear, software, excellent monitoring, microphones, and many instruments including drums, guitars, a Hammond organ and Leslie, and a well-maintained Kawai studio piano.

Events

The Henhouse Hang is a 3-day recording seminar here every September that takes you through the entire recording process.

The Henhouse Hang - Mixing With Steve is a 2-day event focused only on mixing music, held every March.

The Henhouse Popup is a unique recording session, held in different cities at random times throughout the year. Steve and his crew set up shop in a great studio, and songwriters drop in to record and mix their songs with them. It’s a fast, fun and efficient way to work.
Watch for it in a city near you!
